Designing your Table Cover

Open the Table Cover template in Adobe illustrator.

Follow the guidelines displayed in the template file regarding the 'safe zone', 'hem' and 'fold' lines, and 'bleed' when building your file.

Import or design directly in the 'Guide Layer' of your template (Open Window->Layers to select). This will allow you to hide the instruction layer if necessary.

Note the text direction for each of the sides in your template file. This corresponds to which way will print 'Up' in the final output when the table cover is sewn together.

Good image quality and color makes a big difference.

If building portions of your table cover in an image editing program such as Photoshop keep in mind the output resolution before placing artwork in the template. An Example for designing the front of the 72" sized table cover would be to open a new CMYK document with a width of 74" (72" + 1" bleed left + 1" bleed right) and height of 31" (30" + 1" bleed bottom) and keep the resolution at a MINIMUM of 50dpi. This will create a file of approximately 22Meg.

If you are having to resize your original artwork to match these dimensions, remember that your image quality will degrade if you are enlarging but should be fine if you are reducing the image to match these dimensions.

When placing your image artwork into the template also, take note of the orientation for the right/left/back sides and rotate as necessary.

Preparing to Save
Be sure to embed all of your placed images. To do this, Open the Window->Links palette. Select each image in the palette list, select the fly-out menu and pull down to “Embed Image.

Set the Black Values
In order to get the richest blacks, make sure all the black elements have a CMYK value of:

C = 20%
M = 20%
Y = 20%
K = 100%

Select each black element and adjust the sliders to the above settings in the color palette.

Please note that various black objects may appear the same onscreen but may be vastly different when printed - always check their
numerical values.

Outline your fonts
Please convert all your type to outlines before submitting your order. Choose Select->All and go to Type->Create Outlines to outline the fonts..

Saving The File
Save your file to the native Adobe illustrator format (.ai) or to PDF
